Back in business

It’s been nearly two years since I posted anything on here and much more than that since I posted anything more than a passing link or thought.

I keep thinking I should delete most of this blog and start again.  Most of these posts were from 6 or 7 years ago, when I couldn’t get a film going, when the economy was in the shitter, when the film business was collapsing on itself.  It’s almost all irrelevant now.  Things have changed.

Since then, I’ve made two films, PRICE CHECK and THE MAID’S ROOM.  PRICE CHECK went to Sundance and had a pretty good run and good reviews.  MAID’S ROOM didn’t go to Sundance, got mostly bad reviews, and hardly anyone saw it.

I’m equally proud of both films.  They’re very different films.  I tried a lot of different things in MAID’S ROOM, stylistically with acting and the camera work, and I don’t think audiences went along with it.  It’s funny when you make choices that you know are not for everyone, but when the films come out and not everyone likes them, you question those choices you made.  These days, there’s not a lot of range in styles, so I tried some things that were different.

I’m about to start another film, looks like we are shooting in April.  I’m going to try to blog more about it.  This blogging doesn’t come naturally to me, so I can’t promise much, but for anyone interested, stay tuned.  There will be some announcements coming soon.  Spread the word!
